There are many ways you can help with TLE-BU!

[edit] Testers

Install the program, play with it, poke it and break it. Letting us know about any troubles you run into is probably the single biggest thing anyone can do to help move TLE-BU along. We're not large, and thorough testing is something we are never able to do enough of.

[edit] Translators

We want to make TLE-BU available to as many people as possible. To that end, TLE-BU was designed with a "words" system. It uses a fairly simple XML file that holds all the text shown to a user or recorded in the logs. To add, update or correct a language, simple open the common.words file, copy and existing language, change the top bit to have the name and code for the language you want to create, and start translating! You don't need to have any programming skills at all!

[edit] Graphics

TLE-BU looks less than professional. Why? Well, the main developer has less artistic skill than your average two year old. Any help you can offer; from icons to layout to CSS/Skins development would be much appreciated!

[edit] Programming

TLE-BU is primarily written in Perl, with a bit of Javascript on a PostgreSQL backend.

[edit] Perl

[edit] Testing

TLE-BU desperately needs proper testing functionality.

[edit] Modules

There are a lot of functions that could be moved into modules. The modules that exist are quite rudimentary and could use some expanding.

[edit] Javascript

TLE-BU aims to work, as best as possible, without Javascript. With this in mind, TLE-BU tries to make sure the program always degrades gracefully. If you have any suggestions of how Javascript could help enhance the TLE-BU interface, please let us know!

[edit] PostgreSQL

Performance optimization on the schema is always needed. As of this point, there is minimal optimization or indexing used. The philosophy is "wait until we see a bottle-neck and address it then", rather than trying to guess what might need work. However, this works only so well. So of you are familiar with PostgreSQL performance issues, drop us a line!

[edit] Security

TLE-BU fancies itself as being pretty secure. A lot of attention was paid to the development of the session manager, security systems and such. However, we are painfully aware of how easy it is to miss something simple that leaves TLE-BU wide open. If you can crack the program, we'd love to hear how. A suggested fix would be that much better!

[edit] Storage Hardware Needed

Old hardware is fine, capacity is not important, either. The TLE-BU project can use whatever you have to offer for ensure it (and it's class of hardware) is supported properly by TLE-BU.
