TLE-BU is a free, open-source backup program. It was started in March of 2004.

The name comes from the founding companies name, "The Linux Experience". This company was a division of NouVelocity Systems, Inc. Over time, this division was folded back into the parent company, but the name of this backup program has remained the same. Thus, the full name is "The Linux Experience - BackUp".

Currently, development of TLE-BU is driven almost entirely by Madison Kelly (aka: Digimer). Portions of the program's development, specifically the core data storage and the TCSP protocol, server and generic Linux client, are being funded by InterLink Communications, Inc..
